An Ecoark Holdings, Inc. portfolio company, Eco3d utilized 2d and 3d survey and as-built solutions to identify accurate existing conditions in seating layouts and repurpose labor, decreasing cost and inefficiency
Rogers, AR (August 17, 2016) – Ecoark Holdings, Inc. (OTCQB: EARK), a provider of a growing suite of proprietary technologies and services that drive sustainability and facilitate sustainable growth for a wide range of clients, today announced that its portfolio company, Eco3d, has been selected by Regal Entertainment Group to provide 2d and 3d deliverables as solutions for the renovation and recliner seating conversion projects within their national portfolio of theaters across the United States.
Eco3d has virtualized the physical environment of each theater auditorium and digitally documented it in both 2d and 3d, allowing for optimal seating installation. Eco3d was able to accurately capture measurements of each theater – a crucial factor of the renovation considering the complexity of auditoriums in terms of slopes, grades, screens, and seating – all while eliminating human error and enhancing efficiency over traditional surveying methods.
“We are extremely proud of our selection by Regal Entertainment Group for this project, and for the work we were able to complete throughout the project lifecycle. This was a unique project in that timing was crucial to its success,” said Jeff Querrey, Commercial Division Leader, Eco3d. “Fortunately our capabilities allow for us to provide service much faster and more efficiently than traditional surveying, and the consistency and quality of our deliverables speak for themselves. We are pleased with the results and to once again be chosen by a leading brand as a trusted partner.”
Eco3d was also able to repurpose labor needs and save crucial design time for the architects throughout the project due to its 2d and 3d deliverables. Construction managers were no longer required to fly from theater to theater to survey each building themselves, and were instead able to focus on the completion of the project. Eco3d’s virtualization and digital documentation of each auditorium also ensured that there is never a need for additional site visits, as the dimensional data that was captured is accurate, reusable, and updatable.
“Accurate information of our existing asset to be renovated is crucial to providing a positive theater experience for our customers and the most efficient and cost effective way to complete the renovations, so when we decided to move forward with these renovations and the recliner seating conversions it was clear we needed a partner who could ensure we maximized our available space in the most efficient manner possible,” said Ronald Kooch, SVP Design & Construction, Regal Entertainment Group. “Eco3d proved to be the optimal choice, as they were able to meet and exceed all of our needs within our time frame. Their 2d and 3d plans will ensure we complete each renovation the right way, every time.”
By utilizing Eco3d and its technology, Regal Entertainment Group was able to cut costs throughout the project lifecycle. The precision of Eco3d’s surveys and as-built solutions prevents additional work due to measurement inaccuracy, which also decreases the need for change orders and field corrections. The labor repurposing allowed Regal Entertainment Group to save by not having construction managers traveling from site to site, saving valuable time that can be used to complete other tasks.
“It is a great testament to the capabilities of Eco3d to be selected to complete a project of this magnitude with a brand as impressive as Regal Entertainment Group,” said Randy May, CEO, Ecoark Holdings, Inc. “We are proud of the work from Sean Spisak, Project Manager, and the entire team at Eco3d, as they continue to lead their industry and bring immense value back to our company.”
